The Photos Every Small Business Website Needs — The LensRoom, Calgary

When someone asks what photos they need for their website, I give them the same short list every time.

A simple shot list

You do not need a hundred photos. You need the right handful, used well. For most small business sites, this covers it: a clean headshot of you, a shot of you working in your space, your team if you have one, your product or the thing you actually make or do, a couple of wide environment shots for banners and backgrounds, and a few detail shots — hands, tools, workspace — for texture.

Your service in action — a treatment mid-session says more than a description ever could.

Why the mix matters

A single headshot on a plain page looks like a placeholder. The wider shots and details are what make a site feel established — they give your pages room to breathe and give you flexibility when you redesign later. One good environment shot can become a homepage banner, a LinkedIn header, and a proposal cover.

The team together. A group shot anchors an about page and shows the people behind the name.

Fifteen to twenty-five usable images covers most small business websites, and we can get there in a single half-day session.

Plan it once, use it for years

Come in with a rough sense of the pages you are building and we will shoot to fill them. That way you are not back in three months realizing you have no photo for the services page. One session, planned properly, tends to carry a small business for a couple of years.

A close detail shot adds texture between the bigger images and keeps a page from feeling flat.

Common questions

Good to know before you book

How many photos does a small business website need?

Fifteen to twenty-five usable images covers most small sites — a headshot, some working shots, your space, your product, and a few details.

Can we get everything in one session?

Usually yes. A half-day is enough for a full small-business shot list if we plan the pages beforehand.
